The Uintah School District issued a press release on Thursday regarding the school report cards issued by the Utah School Board of Education. The report cards no longer give an overall letter grade for each school and is based mostly on spring test results. The data for 2019 for the entire state was released on January 2nd. “As a district we have improved our commendable ratings by one this year and received our first exemplary rating, which was earned by Vernal Middle School,” shares District Curriculum Director Jayme Leyba. “Exemplary ratings are typically reserved for the top 3 percent to 5 percent of schools in a specific subject area. We have also addressed some of our areas of critical need and have improved our graduation rate. At present, the Uintah School District is in a state of transition, with a new superintendent expected to be appointed in the very near future. This pending change in leadership will not diminish the strong collaborative culture we have built with our administrators, teachers, classified staff, parents and students. It is a culture that will drive our district’s growth and help prepare our students with the critical skills and attributes they need to become productive citizens.” The best way to read the report for the District or of specific schools is to link through the press release on the Uintah School District Facebook page.
