Valuable and sombering training took place Monday at Uintah High School as active shooter scenarios were performed. According to a Uintah School District announcement, the exercises were designed to teach law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, firefighters, and district employees how to respond to an active shooter situation. The training was put on by the state Division of Risk Management and the Utah School Board Association. Local, state, and federal agencies had officers participate as well as crews from Gold Cross Ambulance, Ute Tribe Ambulance, Classic Air Medical and Uintah Fire District firefighters. The lessons learned at the training will improve safety of students and improve the way the district responds to emergencies.
