Races hosted by Uintah Recreation have been a long standing tradition and this year they have added three new races to the lineup with more planned for next year. Program coordinator Amber Hadlock says that they have seen record numbers of participants for several races and positive feedback on new races. “The annual Firecracker 5k on the 4th of July added a new 1 mile option this year where participants ran through the patriotic field of flags,” shares Hadlock. “Participants appreciated the 1 mile option so younger kids and anyone not wanting to do the 5k could participate but still start off Independence Day doing something special. The firecracker 5k and 1 mile had over 300 runners this year, more than ever.” A 5k and fun run option has also been added to Uintah’s Racin’ in the Basin Half marathon this year with a party vibe at the finish line to include vendors, food trucks and bounce houses. Also new this year will be the Jolly Jog, a run down Main Street dressed as Santa in conjunction with Vernal Holly Days. Uintah Recreation has made sure there is something for everyone, from beginners to competitive runners. Visit www.uintahrecreation.org for information on upcoming races.
