Being called one of the cleverest shows to hit the Uintah High School stage, Uintah Theatre’s ‘Something Rotten’ opens next week. ‘Something Rotten’ is a witty musical comedy set during the Renaissance in which a theatre troupe is struggling to find success in the large and looming shadow of William Shakespeare. “The show is a hilarious love letter to musical theatre with Easter egg nods to recognizable Broadway hits and Shakespearean lines,” shares Director Chris Piner. “It is one of the funniest musicals I’ve ever seen, and our students are just eating it up. We can hardly wait for audiences to see it…This show is also being adjudicated by the Utah High School Musical Theatre Awards and it’s another great showcase for our talented student actors and team of designers and builders.” This production has a cast of 55 with 35 more working behind the scenes. Heavy on energetic dance numbers and filled with the colors and magic of the Renaissance, the costumers, prop and set makers, and performers are ready to wow audiences. ‘Something Rotten’ runs March 1st through the 9th with Sunday and Wednesday off. Purchase tickets at Uintah.Ludus.com and be sure to credit a student you know.
