The 2020 run of ‘Shrek the Musical’ put on by Uintah High’s theater program was not only a huge hit but also one of the last local events to happen before the COVID-19 pandemic literally shut down the world. While they hoped things could proceed for their 2020-2021 school year production plans, that wasn’t possible but of course the program has made the most of the situation and is opening tonight with a fantastic alternative spring production. While their original spring production of Mama Mia would have been fun, Uintah High Theatre will still deliver a major dose of entertainment starting tonight with the opening of ‘The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee’. This is a musical comedy that tells the “fictional story of six quirky adolescents competing in a spelling bee run by three equally quirky grown-ups.” The show runs March 5th and 6th, March 8th and 9th, and March 11th and 13th. All performances start at 7 p.m. and tickets can be purchased through www.uintah.net or at the door. Ticketing will account for social distancing inside the auditorium and masks are required for those in attendance.
