A Uintah High School student is in custody after making a threat that he had a firearm on campus. According to the Uintah County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred
on Monday morning
when the student announced to a classroom of fellow students that he was leaving the room and that he had a gun in his backpack. “When the student left the room, the teacher immediately notified school administrators, who quickly located the student with the assistance of a Uintah County sheriff’s deputy assigned to the high school,” shares the Sheriff’s Office. “The student was found before the school could be placed on lockdown.” The student DID NOT have a gun and the sheriff’s deputy took him into custody. He was removed from campus and it was determined there was no threat to the school or its students. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
