Uintah High DECA certainly stood out at the annual DECA State Conference in Layton over the weekend, being named the Utah DECA Chapter of the Year for the second time in just 5 years. Nearly 1,700 students and more than 90 advisors from across Utah competed in over 2,800 events. DECA advisor Kami Elison shares that the Utes took 42 events to the competition, had 26 events reach the finals, and placed in the Top 4 in eight events. Nineteen UHS students placed in the Top 4 and as many as 27 Utes could be competing at the International Career Development Conference in Orlando in April. Arina Johnson and Caitlin Richins received Gold Certified in School Based Enterprise. Josh Hill, Brianna Olsen, and Lizzie Richards received 1st Place in Community Awareness Project. Ander Oldham, Jace Sutton, and Logan Evans received 2nd place in Sports and Entertainment Operations Research Report. Isaac Abrams and Bridger Christensen received 2nd place in Buying and Merchandising Team. Many other Uintah DECA team members placed in the top 6 and are eligible to compete at Nationals.
