The students of Uintah Middle School are holding a shoe parade today on Aggie Blvd as they wrap up their shoe drive for orphaned children in Africa. Uintah Middle School teacher Jessica Blunt has helped the students with the effort and shared this week that so far the students have collected about 4,000 pairs of shoes toward their goal of 8,000. The donations go to orphanages for youth who must have shoes before they are allowed to attend school. Tonight’s shoe parade is from 5 to 6pm and donors are asked to please go through their closets and donate shoes they no longer use. They are even accepting single shoes without a mate and shoes in any condition. They have other projects like making playground equipment that the single shoes or worn out shoes can be used for. The first 50 people who donate 2 or more pairs of shoes at tonight’s shoe parade will receive a gift card to a local business. Donors are asked to line Aggie Blvd in their vehicles anytime from 5 to 6pm and students will collect the shoes from them. If you are unable to attend tonight’s event please still bring your shoe donation to Uintah Middle School or the District office during school hours by February 28th.
