Uintah County Treasurer Warns About Scams Arriving In Local Mailboxes

by | Aug 23, 2023 | Featured Stories, News | 0 comments

During Tuesday’s Uintah County Commission meeting, Uintah County Treasurer Wendi Long announced that there are several scams the public needs to watch out for. Scammers have mailed letters to residents that appear to be coming from ‘Uintah County Tax Department’ indicating a notice of warranted lien against the recipient. There is also a ‘2023 Tax Survey Emergency Reply’ letter being mailed out with Uintah County on the letterhead. Neither of these are coming from the Uintah County Treasurer’s Office. There are reminders of delinquent taxes due sent out periodically but the Uintah County Treasurer has nothing to do with these two letters. If you ever have any questions about your property taxes, contact the Uintah County Treasurer’s Office directly. Long also added that there has been an increase in counterfeit bills that are marked “For Motion Picture Purposes”. They are not legal tender so keep a close eye for counterfeited bills.
