Uintah County Spring Burn Instructions

by | Apr 8, 2025 | News | 0 comments

Spring is in the air and that means it is time to get your yard cleaned up and ready for summer fun. The Uintah County spring burn window is open through May 30th and Uintah Fire District has important instructions for all citizens to follow. First, EVERYONE, regardless of where you live in the county, must call Central Dispatch before performing any burning. If you lie within Vernal City limits, you must also always obtain a burn permit. Any piles larger than 4 by 5 feet and 3 feet in height must be inspected by the Fire Chief prior to burning. Be sure the air clearing index is greater than 500 feet. Keep all refuse away from buildings and structures. Never burn under trees. Burn away from powerlines and other utility lines. Do not burn in dry grass or vegetation. Keep a water supply on hand at ALL times and never leave during your burn for any reason. Burn only during light or no wind conditions. And above all, remember that you may be held responsible for any costs incurred if a burn gets out of control so follow all the safety rules. For more information, visit www.UintahFire.com
