Uintah County Sheriff’s Office Scam Alert

The Uintah County Sheriff’s Office is warning the community of a phone scam that has recently had multiple reports. “Several people have reported receiving phone calls from an individual who says he works for our agency,” shares the Sheriff’s Office. “He identifies himself as Sgt. Jason Glass. This individual claims that the person he called has warrants or unpaid fees, and will be arrested if they don’t make immediate payment over the phone.” The Sheriff’s Office clearly states that they DO NOT have an employee named Jason Glass. They DO NOT have a Warrant Enforcement Bureau or a Sex Offender Registration Unit. And they WILL NOT call you and demand payment for outstanding warrants or other fees over the phone. The big message is this: DO NOT give your personal or financial information to anyone who calls you and DO NOT send money to people you don’t know.
