On Sunday, Uintah County Sheriff Steve Labrum shared some information and advice at this unique time of social distancing aimed at preventing the spread of Coronavirus. First, he says Uintah County grocery outlets are making minor changes to their hours of operation to give employees more time to unload trucks and stock shelves. Walmart will be open 6am to 11pm, Smith’s will be open 8am to 10pm, and Davis Jubilee will be open 6am to 11pm Monday through Saturday and 7am to 10pm on Sunday. Most stores are limiting certain items to prevent hoarding. “If you have enough for yourself and your family, please let others shop for what they need,” shares Sheriff Labrum. “If you are shopping, please don’t take it all. Ordering online will reduce the crowds.” Sheriff Labrum also shared that he is proud to be from the Uintah Basin, referring to the creation of two informal Facebook groups – Basin Donation Station and Vernal Strong – where people can post items to donate and others post things they need. Sheriff Labrum offered the Uintah County Sheriff’s Office parking lot as a place to make exchanges as the lot is well-lit and covered by security cameras.
