Knowing there will be many who will need help during potential spring flooding, Uintah County Search and Rescue and Uintah County Sheriff’s Office have announced ‘Operation Sandbag’. Search and Rescue Commander Shad Shelley issued a letter inviting donations to help in the effort. “Uintah County Search and Rescue will be securing private funding to purchase sandbags which will be filled by Uintah County Search and Rescue to be used to help the elderly, disabled, or anyone flooding and needing assistance,” shares Commander Shelley. “Uintah County will provide the sand and location to fill and store sandbags. We have set a goal to purchase 10,000 sandbags at a cost of $2,600 dollars to use for spring runoff.” Donations can be made at Mountain America Credit Union under the name ‘Operation Sandbag’. Donations can also be dropped off at the Uintah County Sheriff’s Office, Jiffy Pawn, and Economy Floor.
