****Motion Passed During Wednesday’s special meeting of the Uintah County Commission making Uintah County the first Second Amendment sanctuary in the state of Utah. Full Story to come. ****
Uintah County is exploring the possibility of becoming a Second Amendment sanctuary county. During the Monday Commission meeting, Chief Deputy Attorney Jonathan Stearmer explained that Commissioner Bart Haslem approached him about the idea several weeks ago and Monday started the deliberation of the draft ordinance on the subject. Uintah County Sheriff Steve Labrum expressed his support, sharing that, as a gun advocate, he believes it is the right thing to be forward thinking and maintain this right within Uintah County. Commissioner Haslem said that as far as he knows, Uintah County will be the first county in Utah to become a Second Amendment Sanctuary and that several other counties are following what Uintah County is doing and will likely follow suit. The Uintah County Commission is holding a special meeting this morning, January 29th, at 9am in the Commission Chambers to further discuss making Uintah County a Second Amendment sanctuary county.
