A Uintah County man has been charged with 3rd Degree Felony Unlawful Sexual Activity With A Minor. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, the female victim was interviewed at the Uintah/Daggett Children’s Justice Center. On March 19th, officers made contact with 22-year-old Joshua Jay Zook at his residence and invited him to come to the Vernal City Police Department for an interview. Initially, Zook described his relationship with the minor as just friends and coworkers but after speaking with officers further, Zook confirmed to officers the incident of having sex with the minor and that while he didn’t know the victim was only 15, he did know she was under 18-year-old. He stated that his friend later told him that the minor was 14-years-old. Zook was placed under arrest and was booked into Uintah County Jail. His initial appearance in court is scheduled for April 8th.
