The proposed elected official salary adjustment was on Monday’s agenda for the Uintah County Commission but did not move forward. The Clerk/Auditor’s Office confirmed that the resolution was tabled indefinitely. The resolution caught many elected officials by surprise when the Uintah County Commission brought it forward during their February 4th meeting. During that meeting, Commissioner Bill Stringer read from that draft of the resolution and explained that the salaries of the Sheriff and County Attorney would remain the same because of the complexity and responsibilities their positions hold but that the remaining positions, including the Commissioners, Assessor, Clerk/Auditor, Recorder, and Treasurer would be lowered to $85,000. Input was received from members of the community, county employees, and several of the elected officials themselves. After listening to the feedback, the Commissioners agreed to table the item until the February 25th meeting, which occurred yesterday and during which the resolution was tabled.
