Uintah County Commission Extends Emergency Declaration to Aid Locals

The Uintah County Commission held a special meeting on Thursday and voted unanimously to extend its local emergency declaration while rescinding the executive order that had closed county buildings and facilities except by appointment. They also modified the executive order that required county employees to wear face coverings while at work to now include members of the public who enter county facilities. The exceptions to this include employees who work outside as long as they are at least 6 feet from other individuals and Uintah County Sheriff’s Office employees are exempt as long as they comply with all Sheriff’s Office rules and orders. The Commission’s press release on Thursday explained that the emergency declaration is extended through Monday, June 1st, and is part of the legal process that allows the county “to help local businesses, organizations and families with applications for financial aid from agencies like the Small Business Administration. It also allows the county to ask for and receive disaster assistance and mutual aid from the state, the federal government, and other government entities, should that become necessary.” The county facilities will officially reopen to the public on Monday, May 4th. This does not mean, however, that state offices located inside county buildings, such as the Utah Division of Motor Vehicles, will be open. Please contact state agencies to determine whether their local offices will be open and the hours of operation.
