Uintah County approved their Mineral Lease Allocations for 2024 during the January 9th Commission meeting. The approved Mineral Lease Allocations for the 2024 calendar year are: $1 million dollars for Animal Control at about $83,333 dollars per month, $2.2 million dollars for Healthcare at about $183,333 dollars per month, $2 million dollars for Fire Suppression at about $166,666 dollars per month, $4.5 million dollars for USSD1 at $375,000 dollars per month, and any remaining mineral lease funds to go to the Transportation District. If less than $9.7 million dollars of mineral lease funds are received then the Commission will need to adjust the allocations. During the Commission’s discussion, Commissioner Norton noted that costs have gone up for everyone so they are working hard to balance the increasing costs as they do not want to increase taxes. Mineral lease funds depend on how much funds are coming in from industry production so it is impossible to predict how much will be received each year.
