The Uintah County Commission accepted the 2023 tentative budget during Monday’s
Commission meeting. Clerk/Auditor Mike Wilkins presented the tentative budget of
$63,262,750 dollars, stating that they were able to reduce the budgets from the
departments that agreed to make cuts. Wilkins shared that the budget includes the 2023
compensation proposal received by HR to include a cost of living increase of 8.7 percent
for employees and elected officials. A request requesting a salary adjustment for the
Sheriff’s Office was not yet included because it was not received in time for the meeting.
Wilkins stated that the tentative budget presented was balanced but that it is understood
that additional work needs done and meetings to work on it will be held. It was agreed
that a public hearing on the budget will be scheduled for November 21st. The
Commission unanimously approved a motion to accept the 2023 tentative budget as
presented. It is now out for public review ahead of the public hearing.
