Uintah County’s proposed property tax increase is a hot topic in the county with some confusion attached. Uintah County Deputy Clerk-Auditor Tai Duncan clarified that the “73 percent increase is not on your total taxes. This is the increase only for Uintah County as a taxing entity. If you account for ALL the taxing entities (school, water, city, etc) it is actually a 12.28 percent increase on your total taxes.” It was also noted that the last tax increase was in 2008. Duncan encouraged people to find updates at www.uintah.utah.gov under Election Information and also shared that Uintah County wants people to attend the Public Hearing which will be held on Tuesday, November 7th, at 6 pm at the Uintah Conference Center. Since the notice of the proposed tax increase was released, one of the three Uintah County Commissioners, Brad Horrocks, has publicly come out against it as well as the Uintah County Republican Party.
