Uintah County will soon have a chunk of grant funding for the purpose of improving cybersecurity. Ryan Mattson with the County’s IT Department presented details of the opportunity to the Uintah County Commission during an August Commission meeting, explaining that the funding is from the State & Local Cybersecurity Grant Program in the amount of $97,000 dollars. In order to be eligible, Uintah County needs to participate in CISA Web Application Scanning among other requirements and they will need to provide a match of up to 10 percent or $9,700 dollars. The Commission unanimously accepted the terms of the grant and the IT Department plans to use the funds to perform a backup.
It is now in the hands of the Department of Homeland Security. It is expected that Uintah County will receive the funds this fall.
