Uintah County Commissioners have approved their participation in an effort to lobby for greater representation in Washington D.C. when it comes to public lands. The effort is through the National Association of Counties for the Local Assistance and Tribal Consistency Fund. The topic was explored during Tuesday’s Commission meeting as it was explained that Counties that had received certain ARPA monies were being asked to offer 1 percent back to a fund for the lobbying effort. Uintah County received around $2.9 million dollars last year and will receive another $2.9 million this year meaning their contribution to participate is around $58,000 dollars. The Commissioners approved payment with the money coming out of the General Fund. It was noted that Uintah County is the last of all the Counties in Utah to approve their participation and payment. The $58,000 dollar payment will be made through the Utah Association of Counties.
