2020 was a difficult year for everyone but it was especially so for the elderly and those in care facilities and residential homes. According to Alicen Hatch, director of operations at the Uintah Care Center in Vernal, there have been many happy tears shed as restrictions have loosened and families have been reunited. While there was the option to visit through glass and talk through a speaker, nothing can compare to being in the same room and sharing a big hug. Visits to the Uintah Care Center can now be scheduled but there are still limitations and special instructions. If a resident and their family have been fully vaccinated then the visit can include physical touch. Worship services and other forms of visits will also be starting up but slowly. Hatch says it will be different as they start letting more people into the Care Center with the priority on safety first.
