In its 8th season, the Uintah Basin Youth Chamber Orchestra is still rising to its mission to provide an outstanding ensemble experience to young string instrumentalists in the Uintah Basin while sharing advanced classical music with the community. Tonight, the group of 16 musicians ages 12 to 18 will perform a free concert and they are very excited to bring their skills to a Duchesne County stage for the first time. 13-year-old Vernal violinist Kotah Gross is new to the youth orchestra this season and says auditioning was the best decision he has made in a long time. “Getting to know the other people and learn the wide varieties of pieces is just amazing!” shares Kotah. He also has enjoyed joining forces with the Roosevelt area musicians. In his words, “It’s been good getting to know people from other places around the area, not too close, not too far!” The uniting of these youth from Duchesne County and Uintah County as they have practiced together for months has produced something very special. Bring your family and friends to enjoy their concert, ‘A Musical Tour of Europe’, tonight at the Roosevelt Jr. High School Auditorium at 7pm. Doors open at 6:40pm.
