The Uintah Conference Center will be busy on Thursday with a conference focused on
the hottest topic in the west: water. The Uintah Water Conservancy District is hosting this
year’s Uintah Basin Water Summit which will feature a full day of presentations by water
professionals on local and regional topics. “We do it for our local water users in bringing
them up to speed on not only local water issues but state water issues as well,” shares
Uintah Water Conservancy District General Manager William Merkley. “That is why we
bring in water professionals from all over the state so we can give the best information
possible.” An example of a local hot topic to be presented on is how to handle growth and
merge land use and planning. A professional on the front lines of the agriculture
water/urban water conversation will present on how best to manage new policies. “What
is happening in the Ashley Valley has happened all over the state and it is overwhelming
for our population because it is not something we have had to deal with,” explains
Merkley, who says the presentation should shed light on how to make the transition as
painless as possible. Get informed on this and many other water topics at the Uintah
Basin Water Summit on January 11th. Get registered at www.UintahWater.org or search
