The Vernal Middle School Auditorium was a hub of Christmas cheer and music from around the world on Saturday with the two Christmas concerts of the Uintah Basin Orchestra and Chorus. UBOC Artistic Director Dr. Cory Evans’ enthusiasm was infectious as he conducted the concert and shared the historic background behind much of the music. Dr. Evans is the Director of Choral Activities at Utah State University and has worked with the Uintah Basin Orchestra and Chorus since 2019. Choir President Kimberlie Nicoll helped prepare the choir this year and credits Dr. Evans with delivering a great experience for those involved in UBOC. “We’ve had a lot of fun,” shares Nicoll. “It was so good to see everybody come together, work so hard and become unified. Dr. Evans is really good at what he does. What I love most about him is how positive he is. Everything he says, even if it’s a negative thing, has a positive sprin to be joyful and share Christmas.” Based on their reaction, both audiences loved Saturday’s performances of the orchestra, choir, children’s choir, and dancers.
