A Uintah Basin man continues to share his message of inspiration and hope with the world. As a double amputee who sets incredible goals and lives life to the fullest, Sidney Smith is the perfect person to talk to youth about overcoming their challenges and finding their purpose. Smith traveled to Nebraska and spoke to the students and faculty of Bridgeport School District on Monday describing his life growing up with a degenerative disorder that lead to his decision to have his legs amputated in 2015 rather than face a certain future in a wheelchair. “Speaking has just been a new thing to me,” shares Smith, “but I’m always happy to hear people that try to change their lives for the better after my presentation. If Only One person changes their perspective on life in a positive way or makes better decisions or even tries to improve their goals …it’s worth it!” Based on the media coverage his visit in Nebraska received, it is obvious he made a serious positive impact on those in attendance. The Uintah Basin is blessed to have Sidney Smith’s example of resilience and grit! Thank you Sidney for representing the Basin so well!
