Uintah Basin Healthcare Warns About Toxic Hand Sanitizer

by | Feb 11, 2021 | News | 0 comments

Uintah Basin Healthcare wants the community to know that the FDA has issued a warning for some alcohol based hand sanitizers that were imported from Mexico. These sanitizers were found to have toxic ingredients including methanol. Hand sanitizers are regulated as over-the-counter (non-prescription) drugs by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, so they are consistently tested for safety. To check if the household sanitizer is safe, visit the Uintah Basin Healthcare Facebook page and click on the links provided to the FDA page. Make sure the active ingredient to the sanitizers is either 60% or higher Ethanol alcohol or 70% Isopropyl alcohol. Keep sanitizer bottles out of children’s reach as there has been a spike in emergency calls because of child consumption. Also do not put it on animal paws or let them drink it. Call either poison control for children or a vet for animals. Shop safe and smart, visiting the FDA website to know what brands are to avoid.
