Based on the numbers, employment in the Uintah Basin continues to slowly improve. According to the new data from the Department of Workforce Services, Daggett County’s nonfarm employment for October was 395, up from 378 a year ago. Duchesne County registered at 8,022 employed versus 7,823 one year prior. Uintah County reported 13,114 employed versus 12,956 the year before. Unemployment numbers also support the assessment that conditions are slowly improving in the Uintah Basin. Daggett County ticked down from 4.1 to 4 percent between September and October. Duchesne County unemployment lowered from 3.5 to 3.2 percent and Uintah County dropped from 3.8 to 3.5 percent unemployment in the same month’s time. The Uintah Basin remains above state unemployment which is at the average of 2.5 percent but is in the same range as national unemployment which is currently at 3.6 percent.
