UDOT has issued a Road Weather Alert in effect Wednesday through Thursday morning for much of Utah. Sections of Highway 40 in West Duchesne County and into Wasatch County through the area of Strawberry Reservoir and Daniels Summit are expected to get the worst of it, as well as over Indian Canyon on Highway 191. Indian Canyon was a mess of stuck semis and other vehicles on Tuesday night. UDOT’s Road Weather Alert states that the cold front moving in has the potential for snow squalls, making travel extra dangerous. Snow squalls bring strong winds and quick, heavy bursts of snow as the cold front rolls through an area. While snow was presenting danger and slowing travelers down already this week, the biggest difference from that and today’s storm is that today’s snow is expected to be heavier and will spread further south in the state. The entire route of Highway 40 and US-191 from the Wyoming border to Price are included on the UDOT list of routes that will experience weather-related travel concerns during the forecast period.
