Alternate travel plans would be wise as road construction starts up as early as Monday on North Vernal Avenue. The UDOT announcement shares that next week, UDOT has plans to begin a project to renew Vernal Avenue from Vernal’s Main Street to Steinaker Reservoir by “removing and replacing the top layer of asphalt to extend the life of the pavement. This project also includes some sidewalk and pedestrian ramp replacement, guardrail improvements, and new striping.” Once work is underway, the construction schedule is Monday through Friday from 7am to 7pm with some night work and weekend work as needed. During work hours, travelers can expect travel delays up to 15 minutes, one-way traffic operations during paving, lane closures and temporary side street closures. All are asked to use extra caution in the work zone.
