Dr. Michael Bankhead has directed orchestras around the world and is also a household name for many in the Uintah Basin arts community. As the artistic director of the Uintah Basin Orchestra and Chorus, Dr. Bankhead has invested many hours in eastern Utah over the last 4 years and will likely spend many more in the years to come. Most recently, Dr. Bankhead and his wife Lynn enjoyed several days working not only with the UBOC crew but also with the musicians of the Uintah Basin Youth Chamber Orchestra and Dr. Bankhead had nothing but compliments to share about these talented local youth. Following the Thursday rehearsal, Dr. Bankhead described what makes the group stand out. “The better a group is, the harder I work and what an amazing rehearsal we had,” shares Dr. Bankhead. “Their heads are on straight, they have an attitude to work and want the music to be really good yet are still able to have a good time. They can do just about anything I ask of them. It makes it delightful to work with them.” Dr. Bankhead also complimented the kids’ “wonderful attitudes” and “maturity” as well as the organization’s Director Brad Vanfleet on making something “really wonderful happen” in this community. The upcoming concert for the Uintah Basin Youth Chamber Orchestra will be held
