UBTech Well Simulation Program Draws Students From Around the World

UBTech presented this week at the Vernal Chamber luncheon on their successful well simulation program. Well Control Instructor Roy Arocho made the presentation, explaining that the program draws students from around the world. Well Control is the technique used in oil and gas operations to maintain a column of fluid and prevent uncontrolled releases of oil, gas, or formation fluids from a well. The training offered at UBTech teaches students the conditions and calculations necessary to obtain control of the well, explained Arocho, including through the use of simulators that reproduce actual well problems. In fiscal year 2018, the 4-day class had 103 students. Fiscal year 2019 has taught a total of 107 students in 9 months. Students have ranged from engineers, consultants, drillers, and drilling contractor management and come from as far away as Florida, Trinidad, and Ghana.
