Of course Uintah Basin Technical College was excited to announce their latest student achievements. Over 80 students from Uintah Basin Technical College attended the SkillsUSA Utah Leadership and Skills Conference and 37 UBTech students found themselves on the medalist stand. Thirteen students took home gold medals, 13 earned silver, and 11 claimed bronze. UBTech swept the Nurse Assisting secondary category. The 13 gold medalists were Ronald Salguero Suchite in Automotive Service Technology; Feranda Clement in Basic Health Care Skills; Kolby Winterton in Cabinetmaking; Ethan Bowden in Carpentry; and 2-person team Dmitry Simmons and Gage Campbell in Cyber Security. Gold medalists will have an opportunity to compete at the SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Conference in June at Atlanta, Georgia. UBTech was also celebrated with the Highest Membership Growth award for SkillsUSA members and a SkillsUSA Chapter Excellence Award, UBTech instructor Angela Hanberg was awarded the College Level Advisor of the Year, and retiree, Jeff Taniguchi, was celebrated as he entered the Utah SkillsUSA Hall of Champions for his years of service.
