UBTech Vice President of Instruction Tammy Wilkerson recently shared in a press release that she is “excited about what the future is going to bring, We know that COVID is going to create some challenges,” shares Wilkerson, “but we will move forward with whatever the challenges are.” Move forward they have as student enrollment for UBTech’s program rose by 37 percent from the previous year. Student membership hours, or classroom time, jumped by 73 percent. A large part of the increase is attributed to a new evening Practical Nursing cohort. Business programs doubled their hours compared to July 2019. The college’s CDL and IT programs currently have wait lists of students ready to enroll as soon as space is available. During the thick of the COVID-19 crisis the campuses were closed but education continued online, then became a hybrid of face-to-face and on-line classes. Both campuses have started face-to-face instruction following social distancing, mask wearing, sanitizing and other procedures to provide a safe learning environment as both post-secondary and secondary school students continue to return to the classroom.
