UBTech has announced their Educator of the Year. UBTech Medical Assistant instructor Leigh Lloyd “was chosen because of her hard work and efforts to provide students with quality education,” shares UBTech President Aaron Weight. The UBTech Medical Assistant program is offered to secondary and post-secondary students and Lloyd is known for her caring attitude. “She was always personable and really cared that we succeeded in the program,” shares Micah Jackson, a former student who now works as a medical assistant at Uintah Basin Medical Center. “She was involved and did a great job offering strategies and activities to help us learn because we were all so different in our learning styles.” Current students handling changes in education due to COVID-19 agree. “She’s been an amazing, amazing, amazing instructor!” shares Randee Saxton, a student whose externship was pushed up sooner than expected and has appreciated Lloyd helping her through this time. Lloyd says she considers the award really about her students and their accomplishments. “Pave a path for them, give them the keys and then watch them open doors,” says Lloyd. “Enjoy the ride! I think [educators] need to remember that each student is different, with their own needs and struggles. We need to meet them where they are and get them to where they want to be.” Congratulations Leigh Lloyd, UBTech Educator of the Year!
