Uintah Basin Healthcare is celebrating National Handwashing Awareness Week. While not quite as famous as Christmas, the importance of this message has renewed validity during the COVID-19 pandemic. The slogan for this week is Life Is Better With Clean Hands. Regular hand washing is one of the best ways to remove germs, avoid getting sick, and prevent the spread of germs to others. It is important to wash often, however it is essential to wash when preparing food before eating, before and after caring for others, after using the restrooms or changing a diaper, after blowing your nose, coughing, sneezing, after touching animals or their feed and waste and after touching trash. The process is simple but should be followed: wet ones hands, lather the soap, scrub for 20 seconds, rinse them off and then dry. Be considerate of the community’s health by keeping hands washed.
