Uintah Basin Healthcare announced through a press release that the facility has new mammogram recommendations for women who have had or plan to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. These recommendations are in alignment with new national guidelines. Women should receive their screening mammogram before getting the COVID-19 vaccine. If they have already received the vaccine, patients should delay their screening for a minimum of four weeks after their final dose. The new recommendations are in place simply because there is a chance that the vaccines may cause swollen lymph nodes in the armpit or chest area on the side that the patient received the vaccine, appearing a few days after vaccination, then decreasing after 2-4 weeks. This swelling is a typical response as your body’s immune system responds to the vaccine.
