UBATC has a new name and as a result a new abbreviation. The school is among 8 applied technology colleges in the state that implemented new names on July 1st as part of SB238 passed by lawmakers earlier this year. The UBATC campuses in Roosevelt and Vernal are now renamed Uintah Basin Technical College and will go by the abbreviation UBTech. UBTech is a member of the Utah System of Technical Colleges and lawmakers changed the name to increase awareness of technical education throughout Utah. This gives UBTech more of a voice in administration and legislative action involving our college, shares UBTech President Aaron Weight. “It’s a huge task, but we meet it with excitement.” The change is a complete re-branding with new logos, email addresses, and signage. “Our new name does not change our mission,” shares Weight. “We are committed to providing hands-on technical training to give students skills they need to meet the demands of local industry. We feel everyone’s excitement as we’ve been on this journey.” The new logo for the school is orange, silver and black as opposed to blue and yellow.
