Representatives from the Uintah Basin Association of Governments took some time during the Vernal Chamber luncheon on Tuesday to encourage Uintah Basin residents to help with two efforts. First is the Utah Internet Speed Test Campaign. All Utahns are asked to report their internet speed at work, home, and wherever they connect to broadband. This will reveal the areas of Utah that lack high-speed internet and direct funding to ensure there is reliable broadband access throughout the state. The speed test only takes 60 seconds and can be done by visiting www.speedtest.utah.gov. Those who do not have access to the internet are asked to call the campaign’s hotline at 435-264-8880. The second effort is gathering input on guiding future growth in the state of Utah. It was shared during the UBAOG presentation that Utah has been the fastest growing state for the last decade with 18.4 percent growth and that the state’s population is expected to double by the year 2060.
