Two men are dead and one man is in custody after a confrontation that took place Wednesday on the Uintah and Ouray Indian Reservation. Matthew Keenan Colorow Tapoof has been charged with two counts of second degree murder within Indian Country in U.S. District Court for the District of Utah. Tapoof was also charged with discharging a firearm during a crime of violence. According to court documents, the confrontation took place at about 2:30am when the two men were allegedly beating Tapoof up and Tapoof got up, found a gun in his car, and shot and killed both men. The names of the victims have not been released but court documents do say they were both members of the Ute Tribe. After the shootings Tapoof left in his vehicle and a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was found and taken into custody in Utah County where he was booked into jail.
