On January 26th, officers with the Uintah Basin Narcotics Strikeforce and the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office were informed of a vehicle seen leaving a known drug distribution residence in another jurisdiction. The vehicle was registered to a Myton man and the vehicle was located by Duchesne County officers traveling on Highway 40 eastbound. A traffic stop was initiated and a K-9 gave a positive indication on the vehicle for illegal substances. A search was conducted on the vehicle and a small black safe was located within arms reach of both individuals in the vehicle. The safe was opened and contained 714 Fentanyl pills, 20 grams of methamphetamine, a small baggie of white powdery substance, Methamphetamine pipes, and other drug paraphernalia. The driver, 33-year-old Kayland Ontiveros, and his passenger, 33-year-old Austin Bruns, were arrested. The pair was then transported to Uintah Basin Medical Center for medical clearance because they admitted to recently smoking Fentanyl. After the medical clearances they were booked into the Duchesne County Jail. Ontiveros is charged with 2 counts of 2nd Degree Felony Distribution of a Controlled Substance and other drug and traffic charges. Bruns is charged with 2nd Degree Felony Distribution of a Controlled Substance and other drug charges.
