A tragic fatal crash took place near Strawberry Reservoir on Tuesday, October 1st. According to Utah Highway Patrol, at approximately 2:41 pm, a Volkswagen Passat was traveling westbound on Highway 40 near milepost 36 when the Volkswagen crossed the center line for unknown reasons, impacting a Dodge Ram 2500 truck head-on traveling eastbound. “A female driver of the Passat was unrestrained and was partially ejected. The female was killed on impact. A 3-year-old female was also unrestrained and was fully ejected from the Passat and was killed on impact. Two additional juveniles in the rear seats of the Passat were also unrestrained but survived the crash. Both male juveniles were flown by helicopter to an area hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Two male adults in the Dodge truck were properly restrained and sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported by ambulance.” It took several hours before Highway 40 could be reopened.
