TSA will be returning to the Vernal Regional Airport. TSA service was pulled from the area in 2015 when there was a lapse in air service at the airport. Vernal Regional Airport Manager Doug Brown announced Tuesday that the federalization status with TSA has been regained to provide screening for the public once Skywest takes over air service. Airport officials have been working very closely with TSA for several months to ensure all applications and site evaluation requirements are met. The official start date is pending but it’s expected to correlate closely with the Skywest start date this spring or summer. “TSA was approved for us and Moab,” shares Brown. “This is a fantastic opportunity for the community and the region as a whole because it broadens our ability for travel and connections. Jobs will also be produced by it,” continues Brown.“The way I see it, everything is looking up for Vernal.” The current phase of construction on the runway project is expected to be complete by
December 7th
and the final phase is expected to be finished by
June 25th.
