TriCounty Health Warns of Salmonella Outbreak Caused by Onions

Have you recently purchased onions for your business or home? If so, pay attention. TriCounty Health Department announced Thursday that onions have been identified as the cause of a Salmonella outbreak in the tri-county area and throughout the state of Utah. They share that the FDA advises that “consumers, restaurants, and retailers should not eat, sell, or serve red, white, yellow, or sweet onions from Thomson International, Inc. or products containing such onions. If you cannot tell if your onion is from Thomson International Inc., or your food product contains such onions, you should not eat, sell, or serve it, and should throw it out. The affected Onions were distributed in 5 lbs, 10 lbs,  25 lbs, 40 lbs and 50 lbs bulk cartons and 2 lb, 3lb, 5 lb, 10 lb,  and 25 lb mesh sacks. Brands on labels may include: Thomson Premium; TLC Thomson International; Tender Loving Care; El Competitor; Hartley’s Best; Onions 52; Majestic; Imperial Fresh; Kroger; Utah Onions; and Food Lion.” More information on the Salmonella outbreak is available on www.fda.gov.
