TriCounty Health Department will be hosting public meetings as they develop a system for enforcing new legislated rules in the beauty industry. TriCounty’s Environmental Health Scientist Daniel Koons provided the details during a Give’m Health interview on 105.5 Eagle Country explaining that the state legislature asked the state health board to develop rules to ensure public health for services including barber shops, hair salons, estheticians, electrologists, nail salons, and beauty schools. The state developed and passed the rules that set the minimum standards for sanitation, operation, and maintenance of facilities. Now TriCounty Health is in the process of developing the standards that follow the new guidelines in preparation for inspections. As part of that process TriCounty Health will hold two public hearings to gather input on how professionals in the industry and the general public would like the health department to approach that process. The first public meeting will be held in Vernal at the health department building on December 15th. The second public meeting will be held in Duchesne at the county building on December 16th. There will be limited seating but questions and comments can also be submitted by emailing eh@tricountyhealth.com.
