The Utah Department of Health has countered rumors about the employment status of state epidemiologist Dr. Angela Dunn. Department of Health Director Jeff Burton countered rumors saying that Dr. Dunn’s “position is rock solid” and that she has his full support. He stated that responding to the pandemic is complex and requires economic, public health, and political considerations. Burton says that Dr. Dunn “is an outstanding epidemiologist” and that “there is absolutely no truth to the rumor that she is being fired.” TriCounty Health Officer Jordan Mathis joined in the conversation with his own thoughts on the topic. “Dr. Dunn has been a supporter and advocate of TriCounty Health Department throughout the COVID-19 pandemic,” shared Mathis. “My staff and I are extremely appreciative of Dr. Dunn.”
