TriCounty Health Implements New Cosmetology Rule

The TriCounty Board of Health approved a new Cosmetology Rule on March 24th that goes into effect on July 1st. During this week’s Give’m Health interview on 105.5 Eagle Country, TriCounty Health Environmental Health Scientist David Koons explained that this was in response to Utah’s legislature passing the Statewide Cosmetology Facility Sanitation Rule in March of 2020. Over the last year, TriCounty Health has held public hearings and gathered input from the community and local businesses in order to decide how the rule would be applied and what fees would be assessed. Inspections have not been happening in the state of Utah, shared Koons, but now all services subject to the state’s new rule, including both brick and mortar and those working out of their home, will have to fill out an application and pay a fee to cover the cost of the inspections that will begin to take place. The website has the check list for the inspections that was created by Koons and Environmental Health Director Darrin Brown. Applications and fees are due by July 1st.
