Trash And Dead Fish Left On Steinaker Reservoir Spur Strong Message

Making a big mess for someone else to clean up is in itself a problem but that’s the least of the infractions  some visitors to Steinaker Reservoir made over the weekend. The Division of Wildlife Resources shared that they received a report of trash and dead fish on the ice and investigation “discovered discarded propane tanks, cans and what appeared to be dead, yellow perch shoved into small holes in the ice. Yellow perch are not a species that are stocked in Steinaker Reservoir,” explains wildlife officials. “It is unclear whether this was an attempt to illegally introduce them into this waterbody or whether someone discarded them as waste.” Introducing fish into Utah waters is illegal, transporting live fish from one water body to another is illegal, and fishing with live bait fish is illegal.
