A traffic stop on State Street in Roosevelt this week ended in arrest. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, first the driver was arrested because the vehicle had no insurance and the driver did not have a license. The driver told the officer he wasn’t sure of the passenger’s name but that she had missed court and so they were going to the court to sort it out. When asked for her name, the passenger gave a false name but eventually identified herself as Raizel Garfield. Garfield was then arrested. A search of the vehicle was performed and a pipe with Methamphetamine was found in the center console, as well as two bottles of alcohol. Garfield said that she had bought one of the bottles though she knew that her court orders were that she wasn’t supposed to have alcohol. Garfield was transported to the Duchesne County Jail where she was booked on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, False Personal Identity, and Unlawful Purchase by an Interdicted Person.
